about this page
Click the image below for the Deep Zoom page (requires Silverlight). It is a 220 megapixel image (29000 x 7600 pixels, 1.6 gigabyte tiff file size) composite photo of the San Francisco's Aquatic Park shot from a pier on 10/17/08.
Use your mouse wheel to zoom in and out (or click and shift-click) on the Deep Zoom image. Drag the image with the mouse to locate a spot of interest. Depending on your internet connection, it may take a while for the image to become clear after panning or zooming.
The individual photos were shot with a Canon 5D and a 300mm f/4 lens at f/8 and 1/640 sec. Coit Tower is slightly soft, not due to a limitation in the Deep Zoom technology, but because we accidentally shifted the focus on the lens and failed to check it on a few photos at the left end of the composite. The flagpole in the images below is slightly wavy because of atmospheric blurring due to air temperature/density variations typical on a hot day.
